Split FAQ
Find quick answers about calculation, recipients, settlement, refunds and behaviors of Payment Split.
To configure the feature, follow the guide for the corresponding charge type.
What do I need to use Split?
Each recipient must have an Asaas account.
Obtain the walletId of the accounts that will receive the amounts and define the transfer as a fixed amount or percentage.
See the general Payment Split rules.
Do I need to provide the walletId of the account creating the charge?
walletId of the account creating the charge? No.
Only provide the walletId of the accounts that will receive part of the amount. The net balance not allocated to recipients remains in the account that created the charge.
Do not use the walletId of the issuing account itself as a Split destination.
See how to retrieve the walletId.
Is the Split calculated on the gross amount of the charge?
No.
The percentualValue is calculated on the netValue, that is, the charge amount after deducting the applicable fees.
For example, if the netValue is R$ 98.00 and percentualValue is 50, the transfer will be R$ 49.00.
Can I combine fixed amount and percentage?
Yes.
You can use fixedValue and percentualValue in the same charge. The total calculated for the Splits cannot exceed the available net amount.
There is no priority between the two transfer types.
Is there a limit on the number of recipients in a Split?
There is no limit on the number of walletId provided for recipients.
The limitation is on the distributed amount:
- fixed amounts cannot exceed the available net amount;
- percentage-only Splits cannot exceed 100%.
Can I set a future date for the Split transfer?
No.
The Split is processed automatically as the charge is received. It is not possible to set a specific date to execute the transfer.
If your operation needs to control when the balance will be moved, consider a transfer flow instead of Split.
What happens when a charge with Split is refunded?
The transfers related to the charge are also refunded.
Accounts that received amounts through the Split will have the respective transfers reversed.
What happens if the Split exceeds the available net amount?
If the divergence is identified upon receipt or anticipation, the amount and the Splits may be blocked for adjustment.
The application receives:
PAYMENT_SPLIT_DIVERGENCE_BLOCKThe deadline for correction is 2 business days.
If the configuration is not corrected within the deadline, the block ends, the Splits are canceled and Asaas sends:
PAYMENT_SPLIT_DIVERGENCE_BLOCK_FINISHEDHow do I confirm that a Split was settled?
Track:
PAYMENT_SPLIT_DONEThe event is triggered individually for each settled Split.
When a charge has more than one Split, each settlement may generate an event. Use additionalInfo.splitId to identify the corresponding Split.
How does Split work in installments?
You can define:
| Need | Field |
|---|---|
| Amount applied to each installment | fixedValue |
| Total amount distributed among the installments | totalFixedValue |
| Percentage of the net amount of each installment | percentualValue |
How does Split work in subscriptions?
The subscription configuration works as a template for the new charges generated by the recurrence.
Changing the subscription's Split does not automatically modify charges that have already been generated.
How does anticipation affect the Split?
Anticipation reduces the available net amount because it also takes into account the anticipation fees.
In this scenario:
- fixed amounts must be compatible with the final available net amount;
- percentages are calculated on the net amount after anticipation.
See Split in anticipated payments.
Can I use Split on a charge used as collateral?
No.
Charges used as collateral in credit operations cannot execute Split, even when the credit operation takes place at another financial institution.
What happens if I delete and restore a charge with Split?
When a charge is deleted, its Split configuration is removed.
If the charge is restored and still needs to use Split, configure the recipients again before payment.
Can I view Splits in the Asaas interface?
Yes.
When available for the account, the Split de pagamentos (Payment Split) option lets you track paid and received Splits, apply filters and export the data to CSV.
For automations, prefer API and Webhooks.
View Splits through the interface.
Can I use Split without developing my own integration?
Yes.
Split is processed by the Asaas API, but it can be configured through integrations such as WooCommerce, Pluga and Make.
See the options to use Split without API.
